P. Iniyan wins the La Plagne Open 2026 win 2691 performance

GM P. Iniyan performs incredibly well in France and wins the La Plagne Open 2026 with 7.5/9 and a rating performance of 2691. The tournament was quite strong with the participation of 12 GMs and 22 IMs. India had in all 34 players taking part out of 140 players.

Iniyan started as the top seed of the event. He got a first round walkover (opponent didn't turn up) From round 2 he scored convincing wins over Nithin Babu (2306), Arpan Das Jr. (2324), Danyii Mosesov (2459), Moroni Luca Jr (2551) and Timothe Razafindrastsima (2523).

Other Indians who did well are Aronyak Ghosh (2549) who finished 4th and Diptayan Ghosh (2554) who finished 5th!

A few days ago Iniyan won the 360one Global Chess Tournament Masters section winning a huge prize money of Rs.8,00,000. For his victory at the La Plagne Open 2026 he received Euros 3500. A huge congratulations to the GM from Erode P. Iniyan for back to back wins. He is very close to once again breaking into 2600 Elo.
