Kingdom of Chess FIDE Rating – Rishaan Stuns Shahil

The beautiful city of Udaipur, Rajasthan, a popular tourist destination known as the "City of Lakes," is currently witnessing a grand event. The inaugural Kingdom of Chess FIDE Rating Tournament began here yesterday, attracting a total of 334 players from across the country. Among the participants are five International Masters and 11 titled players in total. The tournament was inaugurated yesterday by Udaipur’s Member of Parliament, Mananlal Rawat.
After the first two rounds, most of the top-seeded players managed to secure victories, but there were a few surprises. On board 6, Rishaan Jain stunned International Master Shahil Dey, and on board 4, FIDE Master Arjun Kataria was held to a draw by Pawan Sain. Chess fireworks continue on Day 2 of the Big Chess Diwali Camp

The Big Chess Diwali Camp started on the 21st of October at Phoenix Marketcity Mall in Kurla, Mumbai. It’s a seven-day camp where chess players gather from 4 to 8 PM IST. Drawing nearly 100 chess enthusiasts, the camp feels like a lively chess festival with everyone sharing their knowledge like sweets. With some people solving sheets and others engrossed in games, the atmosphere is filled with focus and excitement. ECCC R3: Arjun Erigaisi defeats his former coach Mikhalevski, helps Alkaloid win the match

Arjun Erigaisi defeated his former coach, Viktor Mikhalevski to complete his hat-trick at 39th European Club Chess Cup 2024. Mikhalevski went for an ambitious attack which did not work out. The win helped Arjun's team, Alkaloid win the match against Beer Sheva Chess Club. D Gukesh conceded his first draw of the event against Rauf Mamedov. Gukesh was lost at one point. However, he managed to save the game. R Praggnanandhaa finally scored his first win here, against Vugar Asadli. Leon Luke Mendonca held Vidit Gujrathi to a draw. However, Leon's team Vados Chess Club still went down by 3.5-2.5 against Novy Bor Chess Club. Nihal Sarin scored a fantastic win over Tomas Kraus. Harikrishnan dominates 5th Capa Chess Academy Rapid Rating Open 2024

IM Harikrishnan A Ra scored an unbeaten 8.5/9 to win 5th Capa Chess Academy Rapid Rating Open 2024. He finished a half point ahead of the field. Seven players - IM Harsh Suresh, GM Laxman R R, IM Raahul V S, IM Muthaiah Al, IM Manish Anto Cristiano F, IM Hari Madhavan N B and Pranav K P scored 8/9 each. They secured second to eighth place respectively according to tie-breaks. Harikrishnan defeated Harsh and drew with Laxman. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹25000, ₹20000 and ₹10000 along with a trophy each. The one-day nine round Rapid Rating tournament was organized by Capa Chess Academy at Hall of Chess, Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai, Tamil Nadu on 2nd October 2024. This is Harikrishnan's ninth overall tournament triumph of the year.

The Big Chess Diwali Camp 2024 kicks off in Mumbai

ECCC R2: Arjun Erigaisi and Gukesh just keep winning

GM D Gukesh and GM Arjun Erigaisi keep winning their games and move closer to 2800. Their live ratings are now 2796.4 and 2798.3 each respectively. Gukesh's team Superchess won 0.5-5.5 against Etude Ramat Gan Dov Porat Memorial. Arjun's team Alkaloid whitewashed ŠK K CERO INVEST Nitra 6-0. His teammates GM Aravindh Chithambaram and GM S L Narayanan also won their games. GM Vidit Gujrathi (Novy Bor Chess Club), GM Nihal Sarin (Turkish Airlines), GM Leon Luke Mendonca and GM Aryan Chopra (Vados Chess Club) won their respective games and the team won the matches too. GM R Vaishali (Cercle d'Echecs de Monte-Carlo) and WGM Savitha Shri B (Rudar Kostolac) scored crucial victories to ensure their teams do not lose the match. India wins a dozen medals at Asian Junior 2024

Seven Indians have won a total of 12 medals at Asian Junior Chess Championships 2024. WFM Bristy Mukherjee won the sole Gold for India in the Blitz Girls event. She scored an unbeaten 8/9 and finished a full point ahead of the field. Sneha Halder and the defending champion, WIM Tejaswini G scored 7/9 each in Classical Girls event. Sneha secured Silver due to better tie-breaks. Tejaswini got Bronze. IM Aswath S won Bronze in Classical Open scoring 6.5/9. Aswath and FM Arjun Adireddy scored 6.5/9 each in Rapid Open. They won Silver and Bronze medals each respectively. WFM Shubhi Gupta claimed Bronze scoring 6/9.

Lalit Rohit clinches 3rd Pattaya Open 2024, Nubairshah Shaikh third

GM Lalit Rohit scored an unbeaten 7/9 to win 3rd Thailand Pattaya Open 2024. The top seed of the tournament finished a half point ahead of the field. IM Arfan Aditya Bagus (INA), IM Mohammad Nubairshah Shaikh, FM Alexander Chernayavsky and CM Nimay Agrawal scored 6.5/9 each. They were placed second to fifth respectively according to tie-breaks. The top three prizes were THB 80000, 50000 and 30000 along with a trophy. The nine-round Rating Open tournament was organized by FA Jarunpol Sajjapornthep at Pacific Park Sriracha Shopping Mall in Sriracha, Thailand from 9th to 18th October 2024. GM D Gukesh and GM Arjun Erigaisi scored emphatic victories over their opponents in the first round of 39th European Chess Club Cup 2024. GM R Praggnanandhaa however suffered a shocking loss against IM Francois Godart. Gukesh and Praggnanandhaa's team, the top seed in the Open category, Superchess defeated Gambit Bonnevoie I by 5-1. Arjun's team Alkaloid won against Wasa SK by 0.5-5.5. GM R Vaishali also won her first game against WGM Anastasiya Rakhmangulova. Her team, top seed in the Women's event - Cercle d'Echecs de Monte-Carlo scored a 4-0 whitewash victory over SK JAVES Modra. Karthik Venkataraman dominates Tsaghkadzor Open 2024

GM Karthik Venkataraman scored an unbeaten 7.5/9 to win Tsaghkadzor Open A 2024. The reigning National champion, finished a full point ahead of the competition. GM Igor Lysyj and FM Erik Hakobyan (ARM) scored 6.5/9 each. They secured second and third place according to tie-breaks. The total prize fund combining A and B group of the tournament was AMD 8000000. The top three prizes were AMD 1800000 (≈US$ 4640), 1400000 (≈$3600) and 100000 (≈$2575) along with a medal each. The seven-day nine round Rating tournaments were organized by Chess Academy of Armenia together with “Royale Signature” LLC and the Chess Academy Club at Eighty Eight Hotel and Spa in Tsaghkadzor, Armenia from 30th September to 6th October 2024. 13 Indians set to take part at European Chess Club Cup 2024 starting today

The defending champion Offerspill Sjakklubb featuring the World no.1 - Magnus Carlsen is not playing at 39th European Chess Club Cup 2024. Thus, a new champion is guaranteed to be crowned. As many as 13 Indians are taking part this year - ten in Open and three in Women. World no.3, Arjun Erigaisi is the highest rated player of the event, followed by World no.5 and World Championship Challenger - D Gukesh. Gukesh and R Praggnanandhaa will play for the top seed - Superchess. Arjun, Aravindh Chithambaram and S L Narayanan will represent Alkaloid. Vidit Gujrathi and Pentala Harikrishna will return to Novy Bor Chess Club. Nihal Sarin will switch from Tajfun SK Ljubljana to Turkish Airlines. IM Divya Deshmukh, GM R Vaishali and WGM Savitha Shri B will make their ECCC debut for Garuda Ajka BSK, Cercle d'Echecs de Monte-Carlo and Rudar Kostolac respectively. Aakash Sharadchandra Dalvi wins SDM University Cup Rapid Rating Open 2024

Aakash Sharadchandra Dalvi and IM-elect FM Niranjan Navalgund scored an unbeaten 8/9 at SDM University Cup Rapid Rating Open 2024. Aakash won the tournament on tie-breaks, Niranjan was placed second. Five players - IM Mohammad Nubairshah Shaikh, Balkishan A, Abhishek I Ganiger, Prashanth J Naik and Abhishek Patil scored 7.5/9 each. They secured third to seventh place respectively according to tie-breaks. Aakash drew with both other podium finishers. The total prize fund of the tournament was ₹200000. The top three prizes were ₹30000, ₹25000 and ₹20000 along with a trophy each. The one-day nine round Rapid Rating tournament was organized by SDM University at SDM Dental College on 2nd October 2024. Semetei Tologon Tegin triumphs at 30th Tamil Nadu IM-norm Closed Circuit 2024

IM Semetei Tologon Tegin (KGZ) scored 6.5/9 to win 30th Tamil Nadu IM-norm Closed Circuit Chess Tournament 2024. He finished a half point ahead of the rest. GM Evgeniy Podolchenko scored 6/9 finish second. GM Manik Mikulas secured third place scoring 5.5/9. Dhruva Thota, FM Arnav Maheshwari and FM Mohamed Anees M scored 5/9 each to be placed fourth, fifth and sixth respectively. The seven-day ten-player round-robin tournament was organized by Tamil Nadu State Chess Association at Hotel Alankar Grande in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu from 30th September to 6th October 2024. In 2023 India got its highest ever classical super tournament in the form of Chennai Grand Masters. The tournament with an everage rating of 2711 proved to be a perfect event for fighting and high quality chess as well as an important one in the FIDE circuit. This year the event is back - bigger and better. Not only has the rating average of masters grown to 2729, but we also have a challengers section with 8 talented Indian youngsters fighting for that 1 masters spot.
