ChessBase India and Anichess are teaming up to bring you an exciting tournament - the Spells Open! It's chess, but with a magical twist. Play your favourite game, but with spells! We are combining traditional chess with powerful spell mechanics to create a whole new experience for everyone. The prize pool for this tournament is Rs. 2.5 Lakhs ($3,000). along with 7,000 M8 points. This tournament is about having fun, trying something new, and exploring a whole new dimension of chess. When Chess Meets Magic!
Have you ever had those thoughts in a chess game where you wished for a little something extra? Some magical push? Well, brace yourself then! Because the centuries-old traditional chess is going to meet the modern thrill of spellcasting! The 64-square battlefield will get a magical twist: Anichess! This game will turn your understanding of the game completely on its head.
You know how to play chess. Now, imagine you have Mana, like a deck of spells, which has the ability to change the entire course of the game! You need to be both a strategist and a sorcerer to win the game. It’s not just a game anymore; it will be a tournament. ChessBase India and Anichess are teaming up to bring this tournament - the SPELLS OPEN.
How the Spells Open works:
Phase 1: Swiss Qualifiers (June 21–26)
Play as many games as you like: Quick or Ranked
Score system: Win = +1, Loss = -1
Play whenever you want, against players across the Anichess universe
The Top 64 scorers qualify for the Playoffs
Leaderboard updates daily, so keep an eye on your rank!
Phase 2: Top 64 Playoffs (June 28–29)
Single-elimination format
Each match is a Best-of-3 Blitz battle (5+2 time control)
Grand finale: Best-of-5 and livestreamed for all to see!
What’s at stake?
$3,000 USD prize pool
7,000 M8 points (the in-game currency you can use to unlock spells, lootboxes, and cosmetics!)
A chance to become the first-ever SPELLS OPEN champion and leave your mark in the Anichess universe
Even if you don’t win it all, the M8 points you earn stay with you. You can use it for your progress in the game, unlock cool stuff, and create an interesting Anichess avatar!
How to Register?
Head over to Anichess.com and create a free account.
Go to your profile to find your Wallet ID (e.g., 0x0ba0393…).
Join the Anichess Club and enter that Wallet ID.
Visit the Tournament page and sign up for SPELLS OPEN.
