World Champion D Gukesh to face World Cup winner Jan-Krzysztof Duda in Katowice, Poland
Currently, there is a trend of various matches between two chess players. However, this match is quite a unique one. The reigning 18th World Champion, D Gukesh will battle FIDE World Cup 2023 winner, Jan-Krzysztof Duda. It will be a match of six Blitz games with a time control of 3'+2" each. The match will take place at Rialto Cinema in Katowice, Poland. Silesian Chess Federation and Mokate are organising this event. IM Jakub Seemann became Poland's latest Grandmaster a few days ago. Six Blitz games
Apart from the match between two titans, there will also be a match between two Poland prodigies - GM Jakub Seemann and IM Patryk Cieslak. Jakub became a Grandmaster recently by earning his final GM-norm at 2nd Dole Trophy Pasino Grand Aix 2025 Masters last month. Patryk got his IM title approved few days ago.
A few days ago, Poland got its latest Grandmaster in the form of Jakub Seemann, the former World and European Under-16 Open champion.
Jakub Seemann being greeted at school back in 2023 after winning World Youth Under-16 Open was a huge sensation on the internet.
Match Format
The match consists of six blitz games.
Time control: 3 minutes + 2 seconds increment per move.
Tie-break Regulations
In case of a 3–3 tie, a single Armageddon game will determine the winner.
A drawing of lots will decide which player chooses their color.
Time control for Armageddon: White: 5 minutes Black: 4 minutes
From move 61, 1 second increment will be added per move for both players.
