Velammal MHS Golden at World Schools Team Championship 2025 with a perfect score
Velammal MHS scored a perfect 16/16 to become World Schools Team champions. They won the event with a round to spare when they defeated Seed Educational Complex (KAZ) by 0.5-3.5 in Round 7. National School of Physics and Mathematics (KAZ), The Harker School (USA) and Astana 2 RSPM (KAZ) scored 12/16 each. They secured second to fourth place respectively according to tie-breaks. Velammal MHS Mogappair won the inaugural edition in the Under-12 category back in 2023. Instead of two separate events in Under-12 and Under-18 categories, there was only one event this time. Velammal win with a round to spare, Golden for the second consecutive edition
IM Ilamparthi A R was the top scorer for his team 7.5/8. FM Pranav K P scored 6.5/7. Both of them remained undefeated. IM Aswath S and FM Daakshin Arun scored 5.5/8 and 4.5/6 each. WFM Keerti Shree Reddy scored 2.5/3 and remained undefeated.

A total of 255 players represented 55 schools from 46 countries across the world in this four-day eight-round Swiss League Rating team tournament. The tournaments were organized by US Chess Federation in Washington D C, USA from 3rd to 6th August 2025. The time control of the event was 45 minutes + 10 seconds increment from move no.1.
