Prague Masters 2024 R3: Abdusattorov wins a thriller, now World no.8, Praggnanandhaa blunders
Nodirbek Abdusattorov (UZB) won a thrilling game against David Navara (CZE) in Round 3 of Prague International Chess Festival 2024 Masters. The game could have gone either player's way. If the Czech Republic no.1 spotted the correct continuation where he blundered, he would have won the game. This win allowed Abdusattorov to join the lead with Parham Maghsoodloo (IRI) 2.5/3 and also become World no.8 in the live ratings. R Praggnanandhaa suffered his second consecutive loss of the event. This time he was completely winning against Richard Rapport (ROU). He played a series of inaccurate moves which eventually allowed his opponent to walk away with a full point. Vaishali wins, Aansh Nerurkar scores a hat-trick
GM R Vaishali scored her first win of the event against IM Stepan Hrbek (CZE). Aansh Nandan Nerurkar completed a hat-trick of wins as he defeated Zuzana Stara (CZE).
Abdusattorov - Navara: 1-0
Nodirbek Abdusattorov (UZB, 2744) played only one Classical rated game against David Navara (CZE, 2667) in 2022. The former won that game. This time also he repeated the same result. However, things could have ended differently.
28...Bh7 29.Qh5 Bxf2 would have given Black a decisive advantage. Instead, 28...Rxf7?? turned things in White's way 29.Rd6+- Rc8 30.Nxf7+ Qxf7 31.Rxd4 and White won the game in another five moves.
Praggnanandhaa - Rapport: 0-1
R Praggnanandhaa (2747) has never beaten Richard Rapport (ROU, 2717) in a Classical rated game. He lost both of them at 84th and 85th Tata Steel Masters. This time, he found himself very close to scoring a win.
GM Ivan Sokolov tweeted that practical 23.fxe5 would have easily won without the need to calculate. It is true as 23...Qxe5 24.hxg6 is completely winning for White. Not a lot of calculation is necessary. Even 23.g3 would have been fine. However, White made quite a few significant mistakes which turned the tables completely. Black won the game.

Mateusz - Thai Dai Van
Practically, this is quite difficult to defend for White. 67.Kf2 was the only way to salvage a half point. 67.Rg1+? Kh3 gave Thai Dai Van Nguyen (CZE, 2630) a decisive advantage and he went on to win the game.
