Mitrabha Guha and Diptayan Ghosh headline National Rapid and Blitz Championships 2024

National Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships 2024 will take place at Nashik, Maharashtra from 4th March. A total of 229 players have registered for the Rapid event, while 226 are slated to take part in the Blitz. The newly crowned Commonwealth Gold medalist - GM Mitrabha Guha is the top seed of the Rapid event, while GM Diptayan Ghosh is the highest rated in Blitz. 9 GMs, 21 IMs, 3 WGMs and 3 WIMs will be seen in action. Nashik hosts the National Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships 2024

National Rapid and National Blitz Championships will take place from 4th to 7th March 2024, organized by the Nashik District Chess Association!

The venue of the tournament - Shankaracharya Sankul, Nashik

Schedule

Total 11 rounds of Rapid and 11 rounds of Blitz games will be played in the Swiss league format. The Rapid will be played from 4th to 6th March, and Blitz will be held on 7th March.

Prize structure

The total prize fund of the event is ₹650000, ₹400000 for Rapid, and ₹250000 for Blitz. The Rapid champion will be awarded with ₹75000, while the Blitz winner will receive ₹50000.

Details

Time control

The rate of play shall be 15 minutes with an increment of 10 seconds additional time per move, starting from move number one for Rapid tournament, and 3 minutes with an increment of 2 seconds additional time per move, starting from move number one for Blitz Tournament.
