Himal Gusain perfect at Locarno Open 2025

India's highest rated IM - Himal Gusain scored a perfect 5/5 to win Locarno Open 2025. He finished a full point ahead of the rest. Jakub Bednarczuk (GER) scored sole 4/5 to secure second place. Alessandro Camagna (ITA) edged past three more players including the organizer, Claudio Boschetti (SUI) on tie-breaks to finish third scoring 3.5/5. The total prize fund was CHF 2150. The top three prizes were CHF 500, 300 and 200 along with a trophy each. The three-day five round rating tournament was  organized by Claudio Boschetti - Swiss CHess Tour at H4 Hotel Arcadia in Locarno, Switzerland from 25th to 27th April 2025. Himal wins this event for the second time since 2018

Top seed, IM Himal Gusain won four games in-a-row to emerge sole leader, heading into the last round. The tournament organizer - Claudio Boschetti was the sole pursuer 3.5/4. Himal defeated him in the final round to become the champion. This is the second time he won this event. A little over seven years ago he won it scoring 4.5/5. He bettered his score by winning this time with a 100% score. Check out the Hall of Fame where Himal has etched his name, the only player to win the tournament twice since its inception in 2016.

A total of 25 players including an IM took part from seven countries across the world. The three-day five round rating tournament was organized by Claudio Boschetti - Swiss CHess Tour at H4 Hotel Arcadia in Locarno, Switzerland from 25th to 27th April 2025. The time control of the event was 90 minutes + 30 seconds increment per move.
