Gukesh dominates Turkish Super League 2023 with Vidit & Vaishali, becomes youngest ever to cross 2750, now World no.11

GM D Gukesh defeated GM Klementy Sychev in the final round to become the youngest ever to cross 2750 in the live ratings. He is also now world no.11. His team Türk Hava Yollari Spor Kulübü won Türkiye Iş Bankasi Chess Super League 2023 with a round to spare. Gukesh's teammates, GM Vidit Gujrathi and IM Vaishali R all three of them remained undefeated. They scored 7.5/10, 6/8 and 9/11 each respectively. Vidit is now world no.25 and Vaishali world no.26 among women. Vaishali played all eleven games and she won her last five games in-a-row. The winning team scored an unbeaten 21/22 and finished two points ahead of the runner-up. Bayegan Pendik Satranç Spor Kulübü scored 19/21 to secure second place. Gukesh, Vidit and Vaishali gain maximum momentum heading into FIDE World Cup 2023

Last year, GM D Gukesh played for the same team and became world no.18 in the live ratings. Then he just had an okay finish. Almost a year later, Gukesh played on the top board of the same team, delivered a top class performance to become very close to knocking on the world top ten door. His teammates GM Vidit Gujrathi and IM Vaishali R also played well. All three of them gained excellent form just days before the important FIDE World Cup 2023. What an amazing day they had on International Chess Day!

Despite starting with three draws including against World no.14 Shakhriyar Mamedyarov (BPSSK), GM D Gukesh won the next two rounds against GM Anton Demchenko (HFSVKK) and FM Yanki Taspinar (ASVSK). After two more draws in the seventh and eighth round, Gukesh finished the event with three wins in the last three rounds.
