Gukesh and Praggnanandhaa set to take on Caruana, Abdusattorov and co. at Superbet Chess Classic 2025

The second event of the Grand Chess Tour 2025 season is Superbet Chess Classic. The reigning World Champion - D Gukesh and R Praggnanandhaa will be the two Indians taking part in this event. The remaining eight are - Fabiano Caruana (USA), Nodirbek Abdusattorov (UZB), Alireza Firouzja (FRA), Wesley So (USA), Levon Aronian (USA), Jan-Krzysztof Duda (POL), Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (FRA) and Bogdan-Daniel Deac (ROU) and David Gavrilescu (ROU). Schedule and Format

Superbet Chess Classic will have one round per day from 7th to 16th April. Rest day is on Monday 12th April. Each round starts at 3 p.m. local time, 5:30 p.m. IST, except the last round which starts at 2 p.m. local time, 4:30 p.m. IST. It will be a 10-player Round Robin event. Time control will be 40 moves in 90 minutes + 30 minutes + 30 seconds increment from move no.1.

The lineup includes the reigning World Champion and World no.3 - D Gukesh, World no.5 - Fabiano Caruana (USA), World no.6 - Nodirbek Abdusattorov (UZB), World no.7 - R Praggnanandhaa, Grand Chess Tour 2024 winner and World no.9 - Alireza Firouzja (FRA), World no.11 - Wesley So (USA), the only two-time World Cup winner in history and World no.13 - Levon Aronian (USA), World Cup 2021 winner and World no.16 - Jan-Krzysztof Duda (POL), World Blitz 2021 champion and World no.23 - Maxime Vachier-Lagrave (FRA) and Romania no.1 - Bogdan-Daniel Deac.

Prize

The total prize fund for each Classical event is US$ 350000. The top three prizes are US$ 100000, $65000 and $48000.
