Arjun Erigaisi and Nodirbek Abdusattorov storm into World top 10

GM Arjun Erigaisi gained 8.3 Elo rating points combining two events - 5th Shengzhen Masters and Bundesliga West. He is the World no.9 and India no.1 in April 2024 FIDE Rating list. Currently he is playing at GRENKE Chess Open 2024. He is at 6/7, trailing three leaders by a half point.

Women: Three in Top 15, Five in Top 50

Three Indian women are in top 15, four in top 40 and five in top 50. There are no major changes in the rankings of Indian women. GM R Vaishali, IM Divya Deshmukh and IM Vantika Agrawal all three of them dropped only one place to 15th, 39th and 50th respectively. Currently there are nine Indian women among top 100 which is very close to the Open rankings.

Countries

India is currently at no.2 in terms of average rating of top ten players, 11 Elo rating points behind the USA. The gap got slightly increased from 9 to 11 from March to April 2024 FIDE Rating list.
